Lesson Objective(s): At the
end of this lesson, students should be able to use digital tools to interact
and identify numbers 1 through 10 to corresponding groups of objects and
demonstrate counting objects to the correct number. Alignment to Standard (List
Complete Standard): CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.K.CC.A.1 – Count to 100 by ones and tens. ISTE Standard 1.1 – Empowered
Learner: Students
actively use technology to facilitate the learning process and demonstrate the
understanding of concepts. |
|
Prerequisite Knowledge Students
should have the knowledge of the recognition of numbers 1–5 and counting
objects in the general context of everyday activities like toys or materials
in the classroom. |
Material/Resources Computer
or tablet Internet
access Counting
video Kahoot
game (numbers 1–10) Digital
pictures of objects such as apples, stars, and animals |
|
Anticipatory Set / Motivational
Activities The lesson starts with a brief and
exciting video on counting. The
lesson begins with a short, exciting counting animated video to watch, and
join in counting from 1 to 10. Such a counting video sparks the students'
interest, and creates excitement for the lesson. Videos facilitate learning
because they allow young learners to comprehend concepts through sound and
visuals, which is more effective (Maloy et al., 2021). |
Modeling: “I Do” I will display numbers 1 to 10 to
the students and use images to explain counting. I will use the model, and
describe counting in a more detailed manner so that it will be easy for
students to understand, for example, I will point to the counting objects and
say, “I see one apple, two apples, three apples” and count aloud. This
demonstrates to the students a process of counting step by step. |
|
Guided Practice: “We Do” Next, we will count together. I
will display some new stars, and we will count them as a group. I will ask
them, “How many stars are there?” and we will count as one. This gives them
the first chance to practice, as the guidance will come from me to help them
all participate. |
Independent Practice:
“You Do” The students
are now introduced to a Kahoot activity in which they are shown pictures and
asked to choose the correct number that corresponds with the objects
presented in the pictures. Each student uses a device to respond. The
students will use their devices to respond, which will be a valuable
experience to count and work with technology. The activity promotes learning
and strengthens it in an entertaining manner. |
|
Closure (Checking for
Understanding) At the
end of the lesson, we will have to revise with the class numbers 1-10. The
students are asked to count again. I can also present a quick picture and
request students to count the number of objects. This can be done to verify
that students have understood before the lesson ends. |
|
Assessments a. Diagnostic
&/or Formative: I
will observe students during “We Do” and check how well they count and
respond. b. Summative: Learning
is measured in terms of student performance in the Kahoot activity. The level
of mastery is achieved when the students correctly respond to at least 4
questions out of the 5 questions. |
|
Adaptation/Modification/Diversity: Visual
aids can assist the students who are the visual learners. Repetition
is useful to auditory learners. There is
also provision of additional support to those needing additional support. Remediation: Students
with extra needs will be taught individually with simple items like blocks or
fingers to count in a more concrete manner. Technology Integration: The
lesson will consist of a video about counting and a Kahoot quiz to help learn
through an interactive process. The use of technology provides an interactive
medium to practice and demonstrate their understanding and enhances the level
of engagement and participation of the students. Homework: Students
will count some of their toys or snacks from 1 to 10 so that they can
practice counting at home. |
